Research Proposal
We are going to be researching one topic for the rest of the semester. We have a research proposal due in about a week. I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas. but I think I would like to write about the founding fathers and religion. Many people in America, particularly Christians, believe that it was founded by Christians therefore we should be able to treat it differently than other religions. I would just like to come at this topic with more of an informational stance rather than persuasive and let the audience decide for themselves.

This would be a good topic. Thomas Paine might be a good place to start: He is considered a founding father, and his radical Common Sense was a key work influencing the American Revolution. He was a controversial figure and spoke against Christian doctrine.
ReplyDeleteWorking thesis: focusing in on one person and seeing their views
ReplyDeletestrengths: good sources and having many unanswered questions to be researched
confusing or missing: who you want to focus in on
discuss sources: yes
plan of action: using primary documents and not doing field study
improve: once she focuses on someone she can organize the paper around that person and their views
